Bob La Loggia
Bob has an uncommon approach to culture, leadership, and executive management. Much of what drives his thinking are his passions for behavioral science and wisdom. Throw in a fascination with technology and an inclination to never take himself or the world too seriously, and you get a unique perspective on business.
Before co-founding AppointmentPlus, Bob was involved with several other startups, and also worked for larger companies, including Accenture and JDA Software. His background prepared him well for the challenges of getting a company off the ground. To this day he is highly involved in the Arizona startup community, and spends a lot of time mentoring fellow entrepreneurs.
But while he’s excited to see the progress Arizona has made in becoming a world-class, ultra-supportive environment for new and growing businesses, Bob’s primary focus remains on building and leading AppointmentPlus into the future.
“Leading a growing, fast-paced company is like riding a rollercoaster,” Bob says. “Sometimes you’re up, sometimes you’re down, sometimes you’re upside down. But even during those times where you’re upside down and the change is falling out of your pockets, it’s exhilarating. It doesn’t get much better than having the opportunity to work closely with some of the most talented people in the industry, creating something that has such a hugely positive impact on people, organizations, and the world.”
Stephanie La Loggia
Prior to AppointmentPlus, she worked as a researcher and instructor at Arizona State University, and also owned a summer camp business for 12 years. Stephanie earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Arizona State University.
“This is my twentieth year as a business owner,” Stephanie says. “It’s been an adventure, and I’ve learned a lot. I enjoy the challenge of moving the business forward while always trying to do right by our customers, our employees, and the world. Businesses can be a tremendous force for good — or the opposite. In our little corner, we’re going for the good. After 20 years, I know that good doesn’t always prevail, but we have lots of moments where we win by doing what is right. And those times are my favorite.”
Stephanie serves on the boards of New Way Academy, a school for kids with learning differences, and Social Venture Partners, an organization that helps build the capacity of nonprofits. And for a few weeks each summer, you can find her at Girl Scout summer camp, helping build the next generation of female world-changers.
His mission is to secure new sources of revenue, while also optimizing existing revenue streams from each business segment.
“Although my primary objective is to generate revenue, I am passionate about ensuring our client’s success, earning their trust, and developing not only client relationships but also personal friendships with clients along the way,” Ken says.
Ken believes process improvement is a never-ending journey, and that if it cannot be measured then it cannot be improved. One of Ken’s favorite quotes is from the famous author Mark Twain: “Continuous improvement is better than delayed perfection.”
Ken’s 20+ year career includes equity Partner positions at multiple Big 4s (Deloitte and Andersen), consulting practice building and sales roles at global software/services companies (Oracle and CGI), leadership roles at several small boutique firms specializing in Salesforce and Oracle technology, and even as an entrepreneur whose technology products were sold in 88 countries.
During his career Ken has traveled to over 40 countries, and has made sales and worked for extended periods in Australia, Indonesia, and Brazil.
Shafik believes that robust technological solutions are the key to long-term customer satisfaction in the SaaS world. A graduate of the University of Arizona, he has spent the majority of his life absorbed in the high-tech arena, and has expertise in the fields of autonomous robotics, avionics, electric cars, and modern SaaS platforms.
The co-author of multiple publications and a former guest on the Discovery Channel, Shafik holds a master’s degree in computer engineering, along with bachelor’s degrees in both computer science and electrical engineering.
“AppointmentPlus brings Silicon Valley-style innovation and tech culture to the Phoenix area,” Shafik says. “It’s exciting to be part of the West Coast tech boom. ”
Tammy believes that close customer collaboration is crucial to learning about clients’ business goals, challenges, and aspirations, as well as key to the promotion of a successful partnership.
With more than 15 years of experience in account management and client success, Tammy loves working at AppointmentPlus. “We truly have the best clients,” she says. “Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the most talented, kind, and knowledgeable people from a wide range of companies. It has been a honor to help them achieve their goals!”
Nate believes that developing excellent people and implementing efficient processes results in delivering exceptional products. He is a proponent of servant leadership, and his goal is to create inspired employees who are empowered to be innovative.
With over 15 years of experience in the field of software development, Nate has had a hand in every major product improvement at AppointmentPlus since 2010, including launching AppointmentPlus’ first API, coding several major redesigns, consulting on numerous client-requested product features, and leading the teams working on the next generation of AppointmentPlus products.
“At AppointmentPlus, we’ve been able to assemble a team of individuals who are passionate about what they do and are motivated to see themselves and the company succeed,” Nate says. “It’s a pleasure to work with people who genuinely love what they do.”
Derrick moved to the Valley of the Sun from New England more than 16 years ago. A graduate of New England College in Henniker, New Hampshire, Derrick was first introduced to the art of breaking stuff while working for MetLife Financial in Boston. He holds software testing certifications from the American Software Testing Qualifications Board (ASTQB) as well as the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB).
Derrick believes that the core purpose of a good test engineer is not to produce defect-free software, but rather to consistently and accurately report the current state of the application under test to project stakeholders.
“Steve Jobs once said, ‘Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do,’” Derrick says. “AppointmentPlus provides an environment and cultivates a culture that is conducive to great work, which in turn allows its team members to love what they do. I love what I do, and this is why I love working at AppointmentPlus.”
Rambabu Katta (Ram)
Ram believes that quality and on-time delivery of the product is crucial for any business to successfully run and stay competent in the marketplace. His management philosophy stems from the theory that learning and leading by example brings out the best in a team.
A post-graduate in Information Systems from Osmania University, Ram has spent the last 13 years building and architecting web applications, as well as leading, mentoring, and coaching employees. He is a Certified Scrum Master, and actively participates in conferences to keep himself updated with the current trends in business processes.
“AppointmentPlus is a collaborative environment that embraces a ‘We’ attitude rather than ‘I’ and ‘You,’ Ram says. “I’m challenged to do my best at work, and offered a great work/life balance.”
Christine believes building an intuitive and streamlined user experience is one of the most important aspects of software development. Without a solid user experience strategy, users will struggle to adopt the software to improve their own business operations.
With over 15 years’ experience in web and online technology markets, Christine has developed a passion for collaborative environments, and enjoys translating uber-technical details for any audience, from the corner office to the developer.
As a certified Product Manager, Christine works hard to establish and enforce appropriate processes without introducing too much overhead when determining the functionality of the system.
“AppointmentPlus is one of the first places I’ve worked that values individual contributions,” Christine says. “Every person makes an impact on the business and the people around them on a daily basis.”
The highly consultative approach used by her team combines scheduling and technical expertise to translate complex scheduling scenarios into an efficient process.
Iris believes that the Professional Service team at AppointmentPlus plays a uniquely critical role by working directly with clients to achieve a successful “go live” that enhances and augments clients’ current business processes.
Both Six Sigma Black Belt and PMP certified, Iris has spent her career working directly with clients on product and service deployments, and leading teams in all phases of client relationship management.
“Working at AppointmentPlus allows me to team up with people who are really good at their jobs,” Iris says. “That ultimately makes me better at my job.”
Stuart believes that his team is best equipped to support clients when they feel valued themselves, and has built his department on the philosophy that a positive work environment leads to a delightful customer experience.
With 15 years’ experience in the client services industry, Stuart knows that consistent client engagement and positive customer satisfaction are integral factors in building client loyalty — and ultimately — the brand.
He cultivates a work ethic that allows his team to remain client-centric while still implementing scalable processes, and leverages the knowledge he gains daily to further his professional development and leadership skills.
“It’s extremely rewarding to be able to engage with AppointmentPlus clients daily, supporting them with solutions that help their organizations thrive,” Stuart says. “On top of that, I love the culture of AppointmentPlus and the bond that our team shares. As a dad of four kids, it’s sometimes challenging to leave my family each day. But having a great team to work with makes all the difference.”
Tony believes that teamwork, communication, and a strong work ethic make all the difference when it comes to producing and supporting a high-quality product, and appreciates that his team members are among the most talented and dedicated available in the industry.
Having worked in the IT industry for the past 25 years, Tony has led projects ranging from mainframe infrastructure and physical security to complex business and data center operations. As a result he has experience in installing, maintaining, and supporting a wide range of technologies and systems, and is driven to establish and maintain clear operational processes.
“I have worked with some impressive organizations in my career, but was drawn to AppointmentPlus by the company culture,” Tony says. “The people at AppointmentPlus are passionate about what they do and it shows in their quality of work. I am truly fortunate to work with a team that feels as strongly as I do about their chosen field of expertise. With the right people in place, you can accomplish amazing things.”
In short, his teams are responsible for the infrastructure that enables the AppointmentPlus application to book more than 4 million appointments per month.
Brad knows the value of facilitating normal business processes while also maintaining sound operational practices and security. He is responsible for several key milestones at AppointmentPlus, including SSAE-16 SOC 2 Type 2 certification, and migrating from physical infrastructure to cloud architecture (and ultimately to company-owned infrastructure).
Brad has worked in the industry for over 20 years, and holds GIAC GSEC, GIAC GWAPT, and EC Council CISSO certifications.
“I love working at AppointmentPlus,” Brad says. “The environment is fun, determined, and absolutely dominates the scheduling software industry.”
Don’s mantra is “know your numbers,” a concise way to say that harnessing data and analyzing metrics is crucial to an organization’s sales, marketing, and customer service success.
With more than 15 years of experience in the fields of marketing, management consulting, and business analytics, Don graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor’s in Marketing, and went on to receive his MBA from Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business. In his spare time, Don enjoys analyzing the antics of his young daughters.
“I’ve enjoyed building a metrics-driven culture at AppointmentPlus,” Don says. “Every day I come to work excited to sharpen my skillset and contribute to the company’s very promising future.”
Scott believes in being a true partner to clients, collaborating closely with them to support the full lifecycle of their needs; from project definition through implementation, and beyond.
With more than 15 years in the fields of sales and business development, Scott joined AppointmentPlus in 2013, and fell in love with the concept of scheduling and its inherent complexities. Outside of work, he is a proud father and husband. He loves to eat (his wife is a chef and restaurateur) and enjoys outdoor activities; especially golf, skiing, and paddle boarding.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time at AppointmentPlus,” Scott says. “I continue to look forward to helping our customers get the most out of our software, and developing a world-class culture focused on the adoption of our product and client engagement.”
Kelley believes that content truly is king when it comes to building a brand and instilling a strong sense of organizational integrity. A graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, she has spent the last 20 years honing her craft as a writer, marketer, event planner, brand manager, and content strategist (not to mention trying to tally up more mom “wins” than fails”).
A three-time winner of the the American Marketing Association’s Spectrum award, Kelley is HubSpot Inbound Certified, and is a member of the Arizona Technology Council and the National Association of Professional Women.
“It’s rare to find yourself surrounded by the type of dynamic talent and good-hearted people I’ve found at AppointmentPlus,” Kelley says. “The company culture is rooted in doing the right thing, both for our teammates and our clients. You can’t beat that.”
She is responsible for connecting the innovations of the product team to the customer-focused operations of the business to create awareness and advocacy, drive customer acquisition efforts across all channels, and build a brand and community that can support everything from small businesses to global enterprises.
Anati believes that Marketing is everything, and everything is Marketing. Marketing is the connective tissue and motivating force behind any business. And for modern marketers to be successful, they must partner with sales, technology, and finance teams, as well as vendors and other stakeholders day-in-and-day-out to deliver programs that resonate with customers and drive business results.
With more than 20 years in the field of Marketing (half of them spent in the technology industry), Anati is equal parts marketing strategist and technologist. She has earned more than a dozen industry-respected certifications since graduating from Western Oregon University with a bachelor’s Degree in Business. When she’s not slinging tweets and “geeking-out” over the latest tech gadget, you’ll find her writing for her niche Disney travel blog or volunteering for local charities and STEM programs in Phoenix.
